A forklift block is the quickest way to check whether a warehouse aisle, a loading dock or a door is wide enough for the truck that will use it. This forklift CAD block is a 2.5 t counterbalance truck, the common type with forks at the front and a counterweight at the back.

Forklift CAD block in plan and side view

The truck is 3,300 mm long including the forks, 1,150 mm wide and 2,150 mm high to the top of the overhead guard. The forks are 1,150 mm long, 120 mm wide and 45 mm thick. In plan the truck points up the sheet, and the side view has the front to the right with the wheels on the ground line.

The rated lift height is 3,300 mm, which you can compare with the top beam level of a racking system or the edge of a mezzanine. Outlines are on A-VEHI, details on A-VEHI-DETL and parts hidden under the body on A-HIDN. The file holds CT_FORKLIFT_PLAN and CT_FORKLIFT_ELEV at 1:1 in millimetres.

Forklift blocks and aisle widths

The 2,200 mm turning radius is the figure to test against the aisles between racks. To stack at right angles the truck has to turn with a pallet on its forks, so the aisle usually comes out wider than the truck is long. Manufacturers publish the working aisle width for each model and load, so use their figure for the final layout and this block for early planning.

Delivery vehicles at the dock are on the truck blocks page, and the full set under car and vehicle CAD blocks.
