Trucks and buses set the size of loading bays, service yards, bus stops and emergency access routes, so a block at true size saves guessing. These truck CAD blocks cover four vehicles that come up in site plans, each in plan and side view at 1:1 in millimetres.
Truck CAD block sizes for site plans
The box truck is a 7.5 t class rigid truck, 8,000 mm long, 2,500 mm wide and 3,500 mm high, on a 3,600 mm wheelbase. Its box is about 5,800 by 2,500 by 2,350 mm inside, and the load floor sits at 1,150 mm, the figure to compare with a loading dock height.
The semi truck is a 4x2 cab-over tractor pulling a 13,600 by 2,550 mm tri-axle trailer, 16,500 mm long overall and 4,000 mm high. The kingpin is set back 1,600 mm, and the overall length matches the EU maximum for an articulated vehicle.
The city bus is a 12,000 mm low floor bus with two doors, a 5,900 mm wheelbase and a 340 mm entry step, which matters when you set the kerb height at a stop. It seats about 30, with room for standing. The ambulance is built on a van chassis cab with a 4,300 by 2,050 mm box body, 6,000 mm long and 2,450 mm wide over the mirrors.
Truck blocks in plan and side view
Each download holds two named blocks, for example CT_SEMI_TRUCK_PLAN and CT_SEMI_TRUCK_ELEV. The plan shows the vehicle from above, pointing up the sheet, and the elevation is a side view with the front to the right and the wheels on the ground line. Body outlines are on A-VEHI, details on A-VEHI-DETL and the wheels and fifth wheel hidden under the body on A-HIDN.
A block shows the vehicle standing still. For turning, use swept path software or the guidance your road authority publishes, since an articulated truck sweeps far more ground than its plan outline. For smaller vehicles see the car blocks in plan, and inside the warehouse the forklift block. Everything else is under car and vehicle CAD blocks.
